About Us

Dr. Tali (Tatyana) Shenfield is an experienced consultant in the areas of school psychology and child clinical psychology. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Toronto and is licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Dr. Shenfield is accredited by the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association . She has several publications in scientific journals and is a frequent presenter at international conferences and symposia. Dr. Shenfield lectured at the University of Toronto and worked at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto District School Board, and the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre, providing clinical and psychoeducational services to a wide range of clients. Currently, she has a private practice and works as a consultant with the York Catholic District School Board. Dr. Shenfield is fluent in English, Russian, and Hebrew.

Anat Elbaum is an experienced therapist who has worked in various public and private settings. She has 19 years of experience treating men, women, children, adolescents, couples and families. Her areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, school phobia, selective mutism, and marriage difficulties. She has helped people who experienced adjustments to major life events, immigration, grief, difficulty in parent/child relations, challenges of separation, divorce and blended families, emotional/ physical/ sexual abuse, and other issues. Ms. Elbaum is a versatile clinician who draws on several therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Short Term Therapy, Art and Play Therapy, Therapeutic Cards, etc. She is a registered clinical family and marriage therapist licensed to practise in the province of Ontario. She is fluent in English and Hebrew.

Marina Heifetz conducts psycho-educational assessments and therapy for children and adolescents in our clinic. She holds an MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan and is currently working on her PhD in Clinical-Developmental Psychology at York University. She has conducted cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional assessments, as well as intervention work in various clinical settings, including Markham Stouffville Hospital, Alvin Buckwold Multidisciplinary Clinic, and Surrey Place. To complement her clinical training, she is engaged in various research projects, with her main interests being in adolescent romantic relationships, families, and mental health. She is a frequent presenter at international and local conferences and symposia. In addition to English, she is also fluent in Russian.

Mariya Kochetkova, Hon. BA, is our administrative assistant and the instructor of the Learning Strategies Course. She is the first person you will meet when you contact our office. She will be happy to answer your questions, arrange appointments, and to assist you in any other way. Mariya is a recent graduate from York University with a Specialized Honours Bachelor in Psychology. She worked as a research assistant at the York Psychotherapy Research Clinic. After active involvement in one of the research projects, she has developed a strong interest in couple and family dynamics. Her current interests and anticipated future studies center around the integration of Eastern and / or traditional healing practices into contemporary psychotherapy. She is very intrigued by the practice of mindfulness and the impact it has on sexual intimacy in marriages. Mariya plans to continue her studies at the graduate level and inspires to become a registered counselling psychologist. She is fluent in English and Russian.
